It is also associated with the ancient mariners who made intricate knots and various artistic creations to pass the time on long sea voyages. The craft enjoys surges of popularity in different time periods, but it has been and still is quite prevalent as artistic creations for useful and decorative purposes, with all manner of making knots with different kinds of cords, ropes and threads. All of this Vintage Macrame is excellent quality and appears to be hand made with different types of cord. All items are in very good condition. Any flaws will be described in the description. Macrame was extremely popular in the 1960s and 1970s. It was probably the most popular craft of that era. Since it is so sturdy and versatile there are still of lot of pieces being used in this era, as well as many crafter's using old and new patterns to continue their creations.

This is a fantastic hand made table holder with 1/2" diameter heavy duty corded yellow yarn. It is 82 1/2" long overall. There are 4 woven ropes and base that will securely hold a 16" to 24" diameter table top. From the metal ring to hang the macrame it is 17 1/2" to the circular ring that forms the table and plant holders. At the top inside the table holder is a plant holder of white corded yarn. The plant holder has 3 woven ropes and is 35" long. It will hold a small to medium sized flower pot. There is a set of 6 brown oval wooden beads in the plant holder cords, and 4 large white oval beads in the table cords. This is a large whimsical Owl for use inside or outside. He has small wood branches to form the top of his head and to perch on. Large wooden beads for eyes, and a shaggy top notch and tail . Body is a lattice type weave that portrays feathers. He is 43" long overall. Top branch is 20" wide and from there to tip of tail is 26" long. He is handmade and in very good condition. This pattern was popular in the 70s and still is.
