Lovely antique plate with delicate sprigs of hand painted purple lilacs. The plate has an embossed design around the edge and inside around the center. It is almost square and has sloped raised sides similar to a shallow bowl. The original backstamp has worn off but there is an outline of an oval that comes down on one side and curls back. There are 3 small dips in the edges of the plate on the under side due to the manufacturing process. There is a mark indentation on the back of the plate like a clover but there are two leaves above another two leaves and not symmetrical like a 4 leaf clover. This plate was probably made in the late 1800s or early 1900s as just looking at it would remind you of the porcelain known to be made then. Plate is 7” in diameter and cupped 7/8” Wonderful antique for use or display. Very Good + condition.
