Rockwell’s Light Campaign (RETIRED) Series
...from G Robert Rapp Jr. Chairman Plate Selection Committee Rockwell Society of America. "In 1920 Rockwell returned from the war. He felt a powerful need to get back to
Basics and the Light Campaign for Edison Lamp Works gave him the opportunity to do that.
The Light Campaign illustrations were historic and were a vital part of the great campaign that sold modern electric light to America.  They gradually faded and for more than 50 years this brilliant campaign was forgotten in the archives of the General Electric Company. These were eventually revived and this series of collector’s plates records the genius of “America’s artist.”  ALL PLATES ARE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION

...from Lorrayne Wick, Art Consultant, Rockwell Society of America
“Evening enfolds the dignified couple in its soft shadows, but does not dim the light of their love. While the old gentleman reads aloud from a favorite book of verse, his wife pauses in her needlework, hearing, perhaps, the echoes of another reading long ago, when that familiar voice was filled with the ardor of first love. Their love has mellowed now, and like fine wine it has grown deep and rich with the passing of time.  As they sit before the fire, Rockwell’s couple remind us that love can endure, and find its truest expression in the twilight of life.”  The quiet cat completes the serene picture. This plate would be a thoughtful and loving gift for an elderly couple. Includes Brochure.

Description is my impression of the scene on the plate.
The older wife seems to be considering helping her husband with his next play in the card game. The younger couple, good natured and patient, wait for his decision. The floor lamp illuminates the scene with a warm glow.
